Our Inspiration: KOBA
The Koba leaf comes from the Enset plant, commonly known as the false banana tree, a vital indigenous staple crop in Ethiopia. Though little known globally, Enset is deeply valued in Ethiopian communities. Through indigenous knowledge passed down through generations, communities have found a use for every part of the plant —its starchy stems and roots are transformed into food, its leaves serve as baking material and livestock feed, and its durable fibers are crafted into ropes and woven goods. Enset is also remarkably resilient, with deep roots that help prevent soil erosion and withstand climate change. It is hailed as both a superfood and a climate-hardy plant.
The broad, green Koba leaf is a reminder of home, resilience, and resourcefulness, embodying the values that inspire our approach to consulting.

Meet our Team
Meklit Berhan Hailemeskal, Founder & Principal Consultant, brings over 18 years of experience in public health, program evaluation, and strategy, including 13 years in management consulting. She has worked at the federal, state, and community levels, supporting public health agencies, nonprofits, and global organizations in using data and strategic insights to drive impactful decision-making.
She entered the field of public health drawn by its unique potential to prevent disease at scale. After years of supporting national and state-level policy and systems work, she now focuses on community-driven interventions that address the root causes of illness and promote long-term wellbeing. She leads with a health-forward perspective—prioritizing strategies that actively build and maintain health, reduce risk of illness, and support wellness over time.
With deep expertise in program monitoring and evaluation, capacity building, and facilitation, she is passionate about translating complex data into meaningful preventive public health programmatic action. Her approach is informed by her commitment to collaborative problem-solving and equity-centered design—ensuring that every strategy is both practical and impactful.
